Association Fees

Association fees are seasonal charges that your membership association sets for each participant, such as a national or provincial membership fee or the Curling Development Fee (CDF). You don't create them or change their prices. They appear in your admin automatically, and you decide which of your products collect them.

If you manage a membership association and set these fees up for your member clubs, see association fees for membership associations.

Review your association fees

Go to Products > Association Fees. The fees your association provides are listed under Inherited association fees, with each fee's age limits, price, tax, and the number of times it has been purchased this season. Each one is marked View only because only the association can change it.

A fee that the association has turned off stays in the list, but nobody can buy it.

Select a number in the Purchased column to open the Line items report for that fee.

Register your club with its association

If your parent association offers Club Affiliation, this page also has a Club Affiliation section. Select Register club affiliation to open the association's public registration page with your club identified. Sign in with an account that administers your club and complete the registration and checkout.

Club Affiliation is a charge to the club, separate from the participant fees listed above. See Club Affiliation for the registration steps and what to do if your club isn't listed.

Collect a fee with a product

A participant pays an association fee once per season, no matter how many clubs use the same fee. Add the fee to a product that requires a participant when you want it collected at checkout. See product information for where fees appear on the product form.

Let curlers pay or report a fee on their own

The Curling Development Fees section at the bottom of the page controls how curlers can deal with the fee outside a normal registration. Select Save after you change it.

  • Direct Curling Development Fee purchases adds a dedicated fee page to your website. A curler signs in, selects or creates a profile, and pays any missing fee without registering for another product.
  • Accept user claims for a Curling Development Fee paid elsewhere through the fee page lets a curler say they already paid the fee at another club. This only works when your membership association has turned on Allow member clubs to accept user claims for Curling Development Fees. If it hasn't, the hint under the checkbox names your association and says so.

A signed-in curler sees Fees in their account when a fee applies to them and one of these options is on.

Buy or report a fee

A curler opens Fees, chooses a participant, and then either adds the fee to their cart or reports that they paid it elsewhere.

To report a payment, the curler enters the name of the club where they paid, an order or receipt number, and optionally the payment date. They then confirm the information is accurate. Curling IO does not check the report with the other club. It does stop charging the curler for that fee again, and it keeps the report so you can review it. The curler can withdraw their own report as long as it hasn't been matched to a payment in Curling IO. A withdrawn report stays in your history as rejected.

A paid fee and an accepted report each count as the fee being satisfied for that participant and season. A rejected report does not. If you later turn off Accept user claims for a Curling Development Fee paid elsewhere through the fee page, existing reports stay in your history but no longer count in your carts.

Fees for team events

If you let players join team events separately, you can also require the Curling Development Fee when they join. See the Team Joining section of Settings > General.

Review reported payments

When your club accepts reports, the Curling Development Fee claims report appears under Reports > Registration. It lists the reports curlers have made and lets you record a payment you have verified yourself, or reject a report that should not count. See Curling Development Fee claims for how to use it.

For the purchased fees themselves, use the Line items report. The Registration reports guide lists the other available reports.
